Concerts

Classical concerts are pivotal in enriching our cultural landscape by allowing audiences to experience classical music's timeless beauty and complexity. We are committed to supporting classical music through concerts. By organizing and hosting these events, the Foundation aims to foster a deeper appreciation for classical music, provide access to high-quality performances, and support emerging talent.

In 2023, we celebrated our 10-year Anniversary by inviting the "New York in Chuncheon" Festival musicians.

This varied concert presented both new and beloved staples of the repertory by John Adams, Caroline Shaw, Nathan Schram, Maurice Ravel, and Amy Beach. As an organization that has supported projects and individuals with a strong interest in Korean culture, the AP Foundation recognized the amount of cultural and educational contribution these musicians made to not just the city of Chuncheon but to Korea. The Foundation decided it was only fitting to invite these musicians for this meaningful event. Promotional support for the event was provided by the Korean Cultural Center New York.

Program:

JOHN ADAMS - John’s Book of Alleged Dances (selections)
CAROLINE SHAW - Thousandth Orange
NATHAN SCHRAM - Woljeongsa I & II (American Premiere)
MAURICE RAVEL - La Valse for Two Pianos
AMY BEACH - Piano Quintet in F-sharp minor, Op. 67

We hosted our 1st AP Composition Prize Competition in 2018 with a mission to build a broader understanding of the traditions of the West and Korea through music and poetry.

Bach, Toru Takemitsu, and Isang Yun, with premieres of vocal chamber pieces by June Young Kim and Joseph Lee, selected as recipients of this year's Andrew Park Foundation Composition Prize. Music set to words by the celebrated Korean resistance poet Yi Yuksa.
